Your garbage is their food,
the city streets their living room,
alleyways dark, forbidding, their bedrooms.
When we finally open our eyes,
maybe these humans will be treated
better than the rats they share
their bedrooms with daily.
We need to let them live with us,
not around us like outcasts.
Life is turning into some futuristic
society where the downtrodden huddle
in masses and use their wits to survive.
Rich corporate raiders feed off their misery,
whatever they can profit from easily.
Are we living our society's last stand?,
hopefully not just yet. . .
or we will be gathering berries,
grunting and starting fires with two sticks,
